Taint
1. Taint of South Wales are something of an enigma. Many have striven to place their sound within a handy genre definition, only to find themselves wondering whether a band so dynamic and full of surprises can really be called 'sludge', or whether music so antithetical to boredom can justifiably be termed 'post-hardcore'. Taint's 2005 full-length debut for Rise Above, 'The Ruin Of Nova Roma' was a crafty beast that revelled in contructing such riddles for the listener and, of course, the critic. Pigeonholes are for pigeons, after all. It's the purpose of great rock groups to not quite fit in.

Maths
From the Holy Roar Records site - "With a serious lack of passionate, visceral, TUNEFUL, real screamo in this country, along come Maths. That such a wall of epic, dense, well-written rock can come from such a young entity consisting of just drums, guitar, bass and vocal is incredible. They also possess one of the countrys best young drummers in our opinion. Think of bands such as Saetia, City of Caterpillar, Orchid and Jeromes Dream and you are close, but this has infinitely more appeal."

Gallows
Gallows are a five-piece discordant hardcore punk band from Watford, UK, just outside of London. Forming from the ashes of Winter in June, Forthesinners and My Dad Joe in early 2005 (and originally going by the handle of Last Fight For The Living Dead), they straight away went about their intention to write infectious, original and exciting hardcore punk music by mixing it with and "the riffery of Mastodon, the off-kilter tempo changes of JR Ewing, the rock n roll swagger of The Bronx and the dischordant noise of Swing Kids then wrap it up, sealed in a sweat and alcohol soaked Union Jack."
Walls
There are two bands with the name Walls: 1.) Featuring 3/4 of the final Cold Sweat lineup (and for that matter, one-half of Iron Lung), as well as the vocalist from Negative Step and Society Of Friends, Walls' self-titled LP serves as an expansion of their self-released 7" issued earlier this year. Indeed it is filled with a wider array of lurching rhythms, atonal riffs, and angry, stream-of-consciousness vocals, that, in the parlance of our times, "pick up where they left off".
