Gallows

Gallows are a five-piece discordant hardcore punk band from Watford, UK, just outside of London. Forming from the ashes of Winter in June, Forthesinners and My Dad Joe in early 2005 (and originally going by the handle of Last Fight For The Living Dead), they straight away went about their intention to write infectious, original and exciting hardcore punk music by mixing it with and "the riffery of Mastodon, the off-kilter tempo changes of JR Ewing, the rock n roll swagger of The Bronx and the dischordant noise of Swing Kids then wrap it up, sealed in a sweat and alcohol soaked Union Jack."

Taint

1. Taint of South Wales are something of an enigma. Many have striven to place their sound within a handy genre definition, only to find themselves wondering whether a band so dynamic and full of surprises can really be called 'sludge', or whether music so antithetical to boredom can justifiably be termed 'post-hardcore'. Taint's 2005 full-length debut for Rise Above, 'The Ruin Of Nova Roma' was a crafty beast that revelled in contructing such riddles for the listener and, of course, the critic. Pigeonholes are for pigeons, after all. It's the purpose of great rock groups to not quite fit in.

A demo released in 2005 brought them much attention, and was a precursor to their first EP, The Redder, the Better, released in Summer 2006 on Triple Attack and Luchador Records. The EP contained catchy, pop-punk songs with lots of of opportunities for energetic sing-a-longs, and was found to be a fan and zine favorite throughout the year.
